Kayak Tour
Visit the magical islands of the Kuna Yala Indians. This tour will amaze you with an 8 day expedition touring through the nearly 400 islands nested in the Caribbean ocean of Panama.
Many of the San Blas are inhabited by their indigenous Indian tribe, the Kuna. The Kuna have been resisting changes to their culture since the Spanish first arrived over 500 years ago. They have actually done a pretty good job of maintaining their way of life. The San Blas province has its own government, and each island is run by a Chief.
Tourism is limited to only a few of the islands, and we have permission to visit any of the islands existing in the area. Electricity and running water are not found in the outer islands. Even with these barriers, some of the Kuna have decided to share their world with outsiders and have set up small lodges for a few visitors at a time.
These pristine islands are picture-perfect tropical islands covered with white sand and coconut trees. This trip is supported by motor boat.
We use the Hobie inflatable kayak that you can peddle paddle and sail. The kayaks are very stable and easy to stand up on for a dive into the warm green water of the Caribbean.
Sample Itinerary for 8 day trip
Day 1
Arrival to Panama at Hotel Marparaiso
Welcome night.
Day 2
Departure to San Blas at 5:00 am
Arrival at Isla Carti at aprox. 10:00 am
Welcome ceremony from the Kuna Yala,
Intrepretive dance and explanation of the Kuan Yala culture
Afternoon kayak to a near by island for the night.
Day 3
Departure by kayak to the island, Manta Ray. Kayak time Aproximately 4 hours or less.
Camping for the night.
Day 4
Departure from Manta Ray to Isla Perro. Approximate time kayaking 4 hours or less. Camping for the night.
Day 5
Departure from Manta Ray to Isla Pelicano. Approximate time 4 hours. Camping for the night.
Day 6
Departure from Isla Pelicano to Kuanidup.
Stay in a cabana for the night. End of kayak trip party.
Day 7
Return to the main land by motor boat in the afternoon, then to Panama city for the night.
Day 8
Departure from Panama.
Upon booking this trip you will receive a detailed package for your preparation for this expedition.
All transportation, (land and water), food, drink, (non alcoholic), kayaks, guides, support boat and hammocks are included in this trip.
